The event "An afternoon full of Technology, Education & Awareness" in Ioannina was successfully completed

With great success and enthusiastic public participation, the event “An afternoon full of Technology, Education & Awareness”, which took place on Wednesday 14 May at the 2nd Evening School of Ioannina, was completed. The event was supported by the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCI Lab) of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina and the Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality Center of Epirus Region (KEEPI/Epirus XR Center), in collaboration with the school and other scientific and social institutions.

More than 300 visitors – pupils, students, teachers, families and stakeholders – had the opportunity to participate in a unique interactive afternoon full of innovative activities and hands-on experiences. More than 20 volunteers from HCI Lab, the student team of CEEPI, the IEEE SB University of Ioannina | Arta student team, Kids Save Lives and the school worked hard to make the event a success.

Participants toured thematic stations showcasing Virtual and Augmented Reality applications, eye and hand tracking technologies, AI creations, hands-on training in CPR and First Aid via VR, as well as Internet of Things (IoT) activities. At the same time, competitive knowledge and technical skills games such as “CPR Hero” and “Match the Step” kept visitors’ interest undiminished, while creative spots such as “VR Selfie Spot” and “Talk to the Camera” offered unique personal experiences.

The event was honored with the presence of the Vice Rector of the University of Ioannina, Mrs. Kanti, the Dean of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications and Director of HCI Lab, Mr. Alexandros Tzallas, as well as guests from the Municipality of Ioannina and the Region of Epirus.

On behalf of the Human-Computer Interaction Lab (HCI Lab) and the Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality Center of Epirus Region (KEEPI/Epirus XR Center), we would like to thank all the co-organizers, volunteers and visitors for their dynamic presence and participation. The event once again highlighted the power of cooperation, technological innovation and social awareness.
