On March 19, 2022, members of the research laboratory “Human-Computer Interaction” of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, participated in the event “Exploring the Brain” organized by the Academy of Neurosciences, at the Research Results Dissemination Center of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki,
The event presented in an understandable way, for both young and old, scientific achievements and findings of recent years regarding brain function, perception of the world around us, decision making, memory and emotions. The event included four presentations and discussions open to the public. Each topic addressed a specific area of neuroscience, highlighting the most recent and interesting cutting-edge research discoveries and future research directions, as well as the impact of neuroscience on our lives, other sciences and technology.
The team of the University of Ioannina and members of the Epirus XRCenter consisting of Alexandros Tzallas, Konstantinos Sakkas, Vasilios Aspiotis, Andreas Miltiadous, Euripides Glavas presented the topic “Brain-Machine Interaction”. Briefly, techniques and tools for Brain Computer Interfaces (BCIs) were developed, practical research applications using electroencephalograms (EEG), virtual reality (VR) devices and data visualization were demonstrated, and finally the research results of relevant research in the field were highlighted.
