The overall aim of this project is to develop a prototype virtual reality (VR) application to study dyslexia and learning disabilities in participants, and to evaluate the VR application in this field. More specifically, the specific objectives set for the project include:
– Development of a VR application that allows the study of dyslexia and learning disabilities in a controlled virtual space.
– Integration of different scenarios and parameters to assess participants, such as reading difficulty and environmental distractions.
– Providing an environment for participant assessment, taking advantage of the immersive nature of VR.
– Evaluating participants’ performance on a series of multiple-choice questions, with words introduced in a variety of ways, only one of which is correct. These words were derived from the list of words used in our partners’ mobile app and were designed to test specific features and attributes of users’ learning disabilities.
It is expected that the implementation of the project will have the following benefits and outcomes:
– Provide an innovative approach to the study of dyslexia and learning disabilities through virtual reality.
– Providing an innovative approach to provide an innovative solution to the challenges of dyslexia and learning disabilities by offering innovative and innovative solutions to the challenges of dyslexia and learning disabilities.
– Evaluate the effectiveness of VR in the study and assessment of dyslexia, and its potential application in clinical and educational settings.
– Increase understanding of the characteristics and parameters that affect reading and performance of individuals with dyslexia.
– Potential improvement of diagnostic and intervention procedures for dyslexia through the use of VR.
The development of the application for virtual environments (VR) includes the following stages:
– Graphics development: The development of the graphical environment of the application was carried out, which simulates various environments and settings for the participants’ evaluation.
– Implementation of functions: The functions of the application were programmed, including the presentation of the multiple-choice questions, the collection of responses and the evaluation of the results.
– Data visualization: the multiple-choice questions were displayed visually in the immersive interface of the application, allowing participants to answer them with ease.
– Audio integration: Audio was added to the app to provide immersion and enhance the sense of reality during the assessment.
The process of developing the app for virtual reality (VR) environments requires knowledge and technologies such as:
– VR development: developers must have knowledge and experience in VR application development, as well as the use of specific VR equipment.
– Graphics and visualisation: Knowledge of computer graphics and visualization techniques is required to create the immersive environment.
– Programming: Knowledge of programming and software development is required to implement the functions of the application.
– Audio: Knowledge of sound design and integration of sound into the immersive environment of the application is required.
– The functions and functionality of the application must be tested and confirmed through testing and user verification. Also, the ability to collect data for analysis and evaluation results must be provided.
To evaluate the implementation, interactive demonstrations were carried out with the partner experts, in order to evaluate the implementation and get feedback from them. These demonstrations allowed to assess the functionality, immersion and performance of the application and to make required corrections and improvements. The feedback from the experts was valuable in improving the application and achieving the project objectives
