Visit of the 1st EPAL Ioannina to the Human-Computer Interaction Research Laboratory - HCILAB and the Center for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality of Epirus Region - EpirusXRcenter
On 26 November 2024, the Model Centre for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality of Epirus (EpirusXRcenter) had the pleasure to host a group of students and teachers from the 1st EPAL of Ioannina. The visit was attended by 22 students and 4 teachers, who had the opportunity to learn about the applications and capabilities of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality.
The event began with a presentation in the C.A.V.E. (virtual reality cell) area, where the visitors were introduced to the exciting world of these technologies. Students and teachers then toured the specially designed activity stations, where they participated in interactive demonstrations of innovative applications.
At the Virtual and Augmented Reality stations, students had the opportunity to experience interactive immersion and interaction experiences, exploring the potential of these technologies. At the robotic arm station, they experienced the possibilities of touch in 3D environments. The Haptic Hedback technology allowed them to interact with space using hand movements, while at the Eye Tracker station, students tested control through eye movements in a target game. Through AI they met Vivian, a digital character with realistic visualisation and finally, in the driving simulator, they had a fully realistic driving experience.
The visit was a unique opportunity for the students to experience first-hand the applications of new technologies in various areas of everyday life. We would like to thank the 1st EPAL Ioannina for the visit and we are committed to continue to promote innovation through educational activities.
