Visit of the 4th High School of Arta to Epirus XR Center
The educational visit of the 4th High School of Arta to the Epirus XR Center, the research infrastructure of the Human Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCILAB) of the Department of Computer Science and Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, which specializes in virtual and augmented reality technologies, took place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 with great enthusiasm.
About 35 students and 3 accompanying teachers actively participated in a hands-on experience that combined education, innovation and entertainment. The visit started with a brief presentation of the Epirus XR Center and its objectives, giving the students a first insight into the role that technology can play in education, research and everyday life.
This was followed by hands-on participation in selected applications at the centre, with students having the opportunity to try out:
– Virtual Reality (VR) systems,
– Augmented Reality (AR) applications,
– Driving Simulator, and
– Robotic arm with haptic feedback, getting to know first-hand technologies at the cutting edge of scientific development.
The visit was an excellent opportunity for students to get in touch with the world of interactive technology and discover new aspects of learning by doing. Epirus XR Center continues to support such initiatives, with the aim of spreading technological culture and inspiring tomorrow’s creators, scientists and citizens.
