Dynamic Presence of Epirus XR Center – HCILAB – DIT UOI and IEEE Student Branch UOI | Arta at the 11th Panhellenic Exhibition of Arta
The participation of the Epirus XR Center of the HCILAB Research Laboratory of the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications of the University of Ioannina, together with the IEEE Student Branch UOI | Arta, in the 11th Panhellenic Exhibition of Arta, which took place from September 27 to October 3, 2025, at the Arta Exhibition Center.
🔹 The booth presented innovative Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) applications, interactive educational environments, as well as original student projects combining artificial intelligence, physical interaction sensors, and cutting–edge technologies, highlighting the creativity and research work of the University of Ioannina.
🔹 The Formula driving simulator attracted particular interest, offering visitors a realistic high-speed experience and making the stand one of the most popular attractions at the exhibition.
🔹 The stand was visited by representatives of the Municipality of Arta, including the Mayor of Arta, Mr. Christoforos Siafakas, the Deputy Mayor for Everyday Life and Civil Protection, Ms. Tsola Angela, the President of the Exhibition and Deputy Mayor for Culture, Mr. Kefis Nikolaos, as well as the Exhibition Manager, Ms. Georgia Koutsiavti.
Special mention should be made of the Deputy Mayor for Sports, Education & Lifelong Learning and Preschool Education, Mr. Christos Giotis, who contributed significantly to the transport and organization of the stand.
🔹 Visitors showed keen interest, with many people trying out the applications, while ART TV highlighted the event through reports and interviews.
The participation of the Epirus XR Center and the IEEE Student Branch UOI | Arta was living proof of the role of university research and student innovation in the development of the local community, entrepreneurship, and technological extroversion.
💡 The mission continues with a vision to spread technology, knowledge, and innovation—from Epirus to the whole of Greece.
