One step closer is this day, thanks to a new collaboration between the humanitarian association KIDS SAVE LIVES, the EPIRUS XR CENTER and the Human Computer Interaction Research Laboratory (HCILAB) of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DIT) of the University of Ioannina, based in the city of Arta, which aims to save more human lives in our country.
For this purpose, members of the Board of Directors and instructors of KSL (Anastasis Stefanakis, Anastasis Samaras, Vasiliki Samara, Vasiliki Floura and Evangelos Vassiliou), travelled to beautiful Ioannina to meet with representatives of the Epirus XR Center and members of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (Nikolaos Katertsidis, Konstantinos Sakkas, Al Hussein Sami Abo Saleh, Euripides Glavas, Alexandros Tzallas and Nikolaos Giannakeas).
The discussion focused on the development of new technology with Virtual and Augmented Reality methods in the existing educational programmes that the humanitarian organisation implements inside and outside Greek schools – having trained more than 90,000 children and teachers so far -, as well as the participation in the iSAVElives app that it is creating in collaboration with MICROSOFT, a free application where everyone will soon be able to save a life using their smart mobile phone.
Greece is in great need of such initiatives, collaborations and programs, at the moment Greece is unfortunately at the last positions in Europe in survival of cardiac arrest victims, but also in starting CPR from the first bystanders.
