October 16 is dedicated to World Restart a Heart Day , an international initiative that highlights the importance of timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and public education on how to respond to cardiac arrest.

To mark this year’s event, the Epirus XR Center and the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Ioannina–Arta are sending a joint message: Knowledge saves lives, and we can all be part of the chain of survival.

As part of its collaboration with the humanitarian organization KIDS SAVE LIVES – Children Save Lives, the Epirus XR Center operates as an official Certification Center of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC), helping to promote training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid.

This partnership combines certified training with scientific knowledge, volunteerism, and new technologies.

At the same time, it highlights the potential of Virtual and Mixed Reality (VR/MR) for creating innovative educational experiences and familiarizing participants with life-saving skills.
Open Call for Training
In honor of World Restart-a-Heart Day, we invite students, schoolchildren, educators, and any interested member of the public to learn about the importance of CPR and to seek training in basic life support skills and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

First aid training is not the privilege of a select few. It is valuable knowledge that anyone can acquire and that can prove crucial in a moment of crisis.

The Epirus XR Center and the IEEE Student Branch at the University of Ioannina–Arta continue to support initiatives that combine education, technology, and community service, encouraging the active participation of young people and the local community.
