School visit from Corfu to KEEPI – EPAL Kato Korakiana
On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality Center of the Region of Epirus (KEEPI) of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCILAB) had the pleasure of welcoming approximately 20 students and teachers from the EPAL Kato Korakiana, who traveled from Corfu to learn about modern immersive technologies.
The visit highlighted the supra-local role of KEEPI as a hub of innovation and educational outreach, attracting schools even from outside the Region of Epirus.
The students participated in an interactive presentation that highlighted KEEPI’s activities, research projects, and educational applications in the fields of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR).
The experience began in the impressive CAVE space—KEEPI’s “virtual reality cell”—where students watched an audiovisual presentation on the applications of immersive technologies in education, research, and industry.
This was followed by the practical part of the visit, during which the students tried out VR, AR, and MR applications, came into contact with eye trackers by participating in interactive activities, and had the opportunity to experience realistic simulation in KEEPHs driving simulator.
The visit ended with a productive discussion and questions, with the students showing a keen interest in the technologies, equipment, and future professional and educational opportunities they open up.
KEEPH continues to promote the dissemination of technological knowledge and innovation, offering unique learning experiences to students and acting as a point of reference for education in immersive technologies at a national level.
