The HCILAB (Human–Computer Interaction Laboratory) and the Epirus XR Center would like to express their warm congratulations to Associate Professor Nikolaos Giannakeas of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of Ioannina Nikolaos Giannakis, for being awarded the Research Excellence Award by the University of Ioannina.

This distinction was awarded as part of the newly established annual Research Excellence Award of the University of Ioannina, following an evaluation based on internationally recognized indicators of quality and impact of scientific publications, such as Impact Factor, normalized impact indicators, Q ranking, and international scientific database data.

Mr. Giannakeas has long been recognized for his high-level research work in the fields of Human-Computer Interaction, Immersive Technologies (XR), and innovative digital experiences, contributing significantly to both international scientific knowledge and the connection of research with education and society.

This award is an important recognition of his scientific contribution and honors the overall research work produced in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, as well as the dynamism of the research community at the University of Ioannina.
