HCILAB & EpirusXRCenter at the 10th Panhellenic Exhibition of Arta

The participation of the Human-Computer Interaction Laboratory (HCILab) and the Model Centre for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality of Epirus Region (CEEPI) of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications (DIT) of the University of Ioannina in the Panhellenic Exhibition of Arta was successfully completed for yet another year, offering the public a unique opportunity to get to know the cutting edge of technological innovation.

During the exhibition, visitors came into direct contact with a series of innovative technologies that incorporate Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). Through interactive presentations, the public was able to explore virtual environments and interact with digital objects in real time, living an immersive experience that goes beyond the limits of everyday reality. These technologies offered the audience the opportunity to experience how virtual and physical worlds can merge into a single environment.

In addition, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in robotics and feedback technologies, where applications that combine human-machine interaction with the sense of touch and other physical senses, such as vision, were presented. These technologies, which have wide applications in areas such as education, health and industry, offered the audience the opportunity to understand how modern technology can improve our daily lives by redefining the possibilities of human perception and interaction.

Another of the exhibits was “Metahumans”, digital entities incorporating Artificial Intelligence (AI), which offered the audience a unique interaction experience. The “Metahumans” were a focal point of interest, as visitors were able to interact with them and experience interacting with machines that have the ability to “learn” and “adapt” based on human behavior. This experience gave the audience a glimpse into the future of technology and the symbiosis between humans and artificial entities.

During the exhibition, the Director of the Laboratory and Dean of the School of Informatics and Telecommunications, Mr. Tzallas Alexandros, together with members of the CEEPI development team, gave interviews to the media
